réelle — Privacy Policy

réelle ("the app") helps you learn French from short videos. We designed it to collect as little as possible. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with data.

What we do NOT collect

• We do not require an account or sign-in to use the app, and we never ask for your name, contacts, location, or photos.
• We do not collect advertising identifiers, and we run no advertising SDKs.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your data.

Stored on your device by default

Your saved words and phrases, your review progress (spaced-repetition schedule), your chosen level, your practice streak, and your appearance settings are stored on your device (in the app's local storage). Unless you choose to create an optional backup account (below), this data stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.

Optional account & backup

The app works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in with Sign in with Apple in Settings — entirely optional — we then collect and store, linked to that account:

• a user identifier and the email address Apple provides (if you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only ever receive Apple's private relay address);
• a backup of your saved words, phrases, and review progress, so you can restore them on a new device.

This information is used only to operate that backup — never for advertising, profiling, or tracking. You can delete your account and everything stored with it at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account; this removes your data from our servers and revokes the Apple sign-in. Deleting your account does not cancel a réelle Pro subscription — manage that in your Apple Account settings.

Subscriptions

réelle Pro subscriptions are purchased and managed through Apple. Apple processes the payment; we never receive or store your payment details. The app checks your subscription status with the App Store to unlock the reel feed.

Information the app sends

• Catalog & lookups. To show videos and translations, the app requests clip data and optional word explanations from our server. These requests contain the clip or word being viewed — not who you are.
• Content reports. If you flag a clip (e.g. "bad translation"), we receive the clip's id and the reason you picked. No personal information is attached.

Third-party video playback (YouTube)

Videos are played through Google's embedded YouTube player. When a video plays, YouTube/Google may collect data as described in the Google Privacy Policy. We do not control that collection. We do not share any information with Google beyond what is required to load the embedded player.

Children

réelle is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
